Integrative counselling
What is counselling?
Counselling is a form of talking therapy that gives you an opportunity to explore personal challenges in a confidential and supportive environment. This may include exploring feelings that are painful, and which many of us experience at different times in our lives. Counselling gives you the opportunity to work together, with a trusted professional, with a degree of separation that cannot be gained through talking with family and friends.

Why have counselling?
You don’t have to wait until you’re in crisis before you reach out for help, nor do you need to be referred by a medical professional. If you had a heart attack you would see a doctor, but you would also visit a doctor if you had aches and pains or an ongoing illness; your mental wellbeing should take the same approach. There are many challenges, big and small, that can be overcome or managed through counselling.
From difficult life events, such as bereavement or stresses at work to anxiety or depression; counselling can help you to understand the challenges you face, see them in a new light and resolve your feelings.
Some people think that counselling or therapy is an extreme option and that unless things get really bad you should try to manage on your own. But this isn’t true. It’s ok to try therapy at any point in your life, whatever your background or circumstances.
If you’re experiencing any of the above or are worried that your situation may worsen in time perhaps it’s time to book an appointment.
How does integrative counselling work?
Integrative counselling looks at the whole person, considering your mental, physical and emotional needs. It combines elements from a variety of therapies to ensure you get the right approach for you.
I work with a person-centred approach and the understanding that; given the right environment and support, everybody knows themselves the best. Together we will build a trusting relationship to help you develop self-awareness, understand the challenges you face and find the solutions to help you flourish.
What can I come to you about?
I work with people from all walks of life and encourage you to get in touch even if you just want to offload in a one-off appointment. Issues I can help you with include:
Anxiety
Bereavement and loss
Depression
Stress
Lack of purpose, direction or meaning
Feeling uncertain and needing reassurance
Fear of emotional intimacy, closeness
Issues with trusting others
Lack of confidence and low self-esteem
Isolation and loneliness
Relationship difficulties
Sexuality
Trauma
If you’re still unsure please reach out.

Appointments
The counselling I offer is for adults and young people aged 16-18. If you are younger than this and feel you need support, please reach out and I will be happy to refer you to a suitable therapist.
I offer face-to-face appointments in a mutually agreed meeting space, along with online and telephone appointments. Walk and talk appointments are also offered; this means instead of being inside, our time together is spent walking at your pace in a relaxed and rural setting. Whichever you choose you are always at the centre of our time together and our focus is on ensuring you feel comfortable and relaxed.
